1 World Trade Center Holds Online Photo Competition, With Winners Getting Trip To The Top

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Eager to see the view from the top of the tallest building in the western hemisphere?

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey is holding an online competition that could land you and two friends at the top of One World Trade Center.

Those interested in participating are required to visit and "like" the Port Authority's Facebook page WTCProgress. Once you've liked the page, you can upload your photo of the new tower to the page, or submit your entry via Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #OneWTCBestPhotos. The three people whose photos get the most votes will win a trip for themselves and two others to the top of the tower.

More than 285 photos have been submitted already, with more than 1,000 votes registered so far. The competition is open until 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 25.

"This is a chance to let the public experience the awe of One World Trade Center, much as we do every day, as workers from dozens of union trades rebuild the jewel of New York's skyline," said Steve Plate, Director of World Trade Center Construction at the Port Authority.

One World Trade Center is set to be completed early in 2014. The observation deck, which will occupy floors 100-102 of the 104-story building will open in 2015.
