L.I. Man Who Had License Revoked Dozens Of Times Arrested

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Suffolk County police announced Thursday the arrest of a man who they say has had his driver's license revoked or suspended nearly 70 times.

According to police, an officer pulled over the driver of a 1990 Mercedes Benz after the man failed to use a directional signal while making a turn in Brentwood on Thursday afternoon.

The driver, Jaquan Joas, 22, initially gave the officer a fake name before taking off on foot.

The Copiague man was taken into custody a short time later.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Joas had 69 suspensions or revocations on his license.

Joas has been charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, resisting arrest, false personation and criminal possession of marijuana.

He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Aug. 3.
