Police: Pedestrian Killed In L.I. Hit-And-Run

HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Suffolk County are looking for a driver who they said hit and killed a pedestrian in Huntington Station.

It happened just after 3 a.m. Sunday on New York Avenue north of East 12th Street.

Reinaldo Velasquez-Yanes, 25, was crossing New York Avenue when he was hit by car heading south on New York Avenue, police said. The car then sped off, police said.

Velasquez-Yanes was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are now looking for a silver or gray Mercury Grand Marquis with a model year between 1998 and 2002. The vehicle sustained damage to the front end and grill, police said.
