Garden State Parkway Snagged By Major Pileup During Evening Rush

UNION, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A 13-car pileup snagged the northbound Garden State Parkway in Union during the Tuesday evening rush.

Two of four lanes were shut down northbound on the parkway near the Vauxhall Service Plaza following the accident, CBS 2's Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2 HD.

The accident caused monumental delays. The parkway was backed up from Route 131 all the way to Route 141 – as much as 10 miles.

A gapers block also mounted on the southbound side of the parkway, extending about five miles, Biermann reported.

Only minor injuries were reported in the accident.

By 6:40 p.m., the delays had eased, according to CBS New York Traffic.
