Police: 1 Killed, 1 Injured During Burglary At Medford Home

MEDFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- One man is dead and another injured following a shooting that occurred during a burglary at a Long Island home, Suffolk County Police said.

The incident happened around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday at a home on Gray Avenue in Medford.

Officers responded to the home after a 911 caller reported two men came into the house and began shooting after getting into a struggle with a resident, police said.

When officers arrived they found 25-year-old Jeremy Phillips dead from a gunshot wound, police said.

A resident of the home, identified as 28-year-old Jermel Bonaparte, was shot in the face, police said. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
