The owner arrived at the home and discovered the suspects living there. He reported the alleged squatters to Nassau County police who launched an investigation.

Williams and Council allegedly removed a lock box from the front door of the building and changed the locks, the pair forged lease documents and moved into the residence without permission, according to investigators.

Neighbors were shocked to hear of the alleged squatting, but as 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten reported, it happens more often than most would expect.

"It's pretty outrageous for people to just move in there. It's a big shock", said a neighbor named Chris.

Council has been charged with burglary and forgery. Williams has been charged with burglary, petit larceny, and criminal possession of a forged instrument.
