LIRR Back To Normal After Morning Rush Hour Woes

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Fifty Manhattan-bound trains were delayed as much as an hour during Thursday's morning rush due to a disabled train, the Long Island Rail Road said.

The problem began when a train lost power just west of Jamaica Station at around 7 a.m., blocking platforms and causing the railroad to reroute all westbound trains.

The disabled train was removed around 9 a.m. and taken to a shop to determine what caused it to lose power. The railroad said the disabled train was not carrying any passengers.

The LIRR announced it was operating on or close to scheduled at 10:30 a.m.

The LIRR operates 141 trains during the morning commute.
