Cops: 83-Year-Old Man Attacked, Robbed Of Wallet, Important Papers

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- An elderly Jersey City man was the victim of a cold-blooded attack on Wednesday. A day later, cops were on the hunt for a suspect.

"He squeeze a me so I lost my mind," Nichola Capozzoli said in a thick Italian accent.

Capozzoli, 83, told CBS 2's Alice Gainer that he was trying to find a store on Westside Avenue in Jersey City when a man approached him and offered to help.

The suspect led Capozzoli down a driveway to the back of a church where he attacked him, robbed him, and took off through Lincoln Park, police said.

"He no say nothing. Just choking me and put his hand in my pocket," Capozzoli said.

The suspect was described as a black male in his twenties, 6-foot, with short corn rolls and wearing a grey sweater with white and yellow stripes, and dark pants. The man took off with Capozzoli's wallet which contained $40, his driver's license, and other important paperwork, police said.

Capozzoli said he doesn't want the suspect caught; he just wants the paperwork from his wallet returned.

"Send me the paper. Put it some place where people find it. That's all I really want," he said, "You can keep the money."

Anybody with information is asked to contact the Jersey City Police Department.
