2 Sought In Robbery Of Brooklyn Livery Cab Driver

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police Sunday night were on the hunt for two suspects who robbed a livery cab in the Midwood section of Brooklyn.

The robbery happened around 2 a.m. Saturday, after someone called a livery cab company asking for a cab to be sent to the area of East 5th Street and Avenue L.

One of the suspects got into the 2011 Toyota Camry livery cab through the back driver's side door, placed a sharp object against the driver's neck, and demanded money, police said.

The second suspect stood outside, next to the driver's side door, and pushed the driver's head against the steering wheel, police said. He then ripped away $200, a cell phone and assorted documents from the driver, police said.

The suspects than ran off west Avenue L toward East 4th Street, police said.

The driver, a 34-year-old man, was not seriously injured, police said.

The suspect who entered the cab was described a black male in his 20s, weighing about 180 pounds and wearing a blue hat. The suspect who stayed outside was described as a black male in his 40s, weighing about 240 pounds.

Police have released a photo of the first suspect.
