Report: Woman Accuses Cashman Of Misleading Federal Investigators
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — As if Brian Cashman doesn’t have enough to worry about these days.
He is barely on speaking terms with Alex Rodriguez, who is reportedly planning to file a medical malpractice lawsuit against team doctor Chris Ahmad.
And according to USA TODAY Sports’ Ted Berg, Louise Neathway, who claims that she’s a former mistress of the Yankees’ general manager, has filed a petition.
The petition, Berg writes, claims that the GM “intentionally misled federal investigators during the Roger Clemens investigation, knew of clubhouse steroid use by various Yankees players and was ambivalent to the use of performance-enhancement drugs as long as nothing came back to the Yankees organization.”
Chris Giglio, Cashman’s spokesman, declined to provide a comment to the newspaper.
Neathway also asserts that Joseph Tacopina — one of Rodriguez’s attorneys — defending A-Rod is a conflict of interest, as Tacopina’s partner, Stephen Turano, represents her, USA TODAY Sports reported.
The newspaper also reported that Neathway is currently facing 52 criminal charges.
Neathway is accused of stalking Cashman, and she was arrested in February of 2012. She spent five months behind bars.
The 37-year-old is facing charges of “stalking, harassment, lying to a grand jury, criminal impersonation and grand larceny,” according to the newspaper.
