Historic Aircraft Set To Fly Over Statue Of Liberty

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Six historic aircraft will fly over the Statue of Liberty Sunday in a commemorative event.

The Air Power Musuem in Farmingdale planned to conduct the flight, weather permitting, at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The flight will consist of six historic aircraft – three B-25s, one P40, one P47 and one P51 – circling over the State of Liberty twice, according to the City of New York.

Two T6 aircraft will accompany the group and photograph the flight.

The aircraft will depart from and return to Republic Airport in Farmingdale, the city said.

Low-flying aircraft may be seen in the area.
