Woman Caught On Video Taking Disabled Boy's Wagon Apologizes, Brings New One

BELMAR, N. J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey mom has gotten her wish.

Tracy Bean's 6-year-old son Alex suffers from a rare brain disorder.

The boy can't walk or talk and Bean said she would use a large red wagon to take her son and his toys for walks around town.

"My son has a very rare neurological condition where he was born with parts of his brain missing," Bean told 1010 WINS.

"It meant a lot to us only because my son used it every day," Bean said.

Surveillance video at Bean's Belmar, N.J. home captured two women taking the wagon from her yard at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. The video went viral and Bean asked for the two women who stole her son's wagon to come forward.

One of those women did.

Bean said one of two young women seen in the video showed up at her home Friday with a new wagon, a stuffed animal and a long apology note, explaining that after taking the wagon they abandoned it so they purchased a new one.

"I just wanted to burst into tears because I was so happy," Bean told 1010 WINS. "It almost felt like I was happy that she was apologetic."

"I wasn't particularly attached to that wagon -- that wagon was great because it supported his back and he had plenty of room. The one she brought us is the same -- it had the bucket seats, it has the seatbelt and he has plenty of room. That's all my son needed."

Bean said she's doesn't plan to press charges against the woman. "I don't want charges filed," Bean said. "All is forgiven."
