Yankees Fans Turn Out For Annual FanFest

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Yankees fans lined up to meet players in the bright sunshine Saturday, with the backdrop of the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.

As WCBS 880's Ginny Kosola reported Saturday, 1978 Yankees World Series MVP Bucky Dent, and 1977 World Series pitcher Mike Torrez, were both on hand to sign autographs at the 7th Annual WCBS/Yankees Radio Network FanFest.

GUIDE TO THE FANFEST

"I came to see Bucky Dent to remember everything that he did for us in the 1978 Boston Massacre series," one fan said. "It's a great pleasure to meet him and we definitely could use his help today."
"Just want to tell (Dent) you know you did a great job and I hope he's enjoying his retirement," another said. "We could use him today."

Also set to sign autographs and meet fans were Shane Spencer – a three-time Yankees World Series champion in 1998, 1999 and 2000 – and power-hitter Cecil Fielder, who was an All-Star in 1990, 1991 and 1993.

Fans were advised to bring their memorabilia only. Photographs are not permitted.

Also on the museum's Pier 86, fans were treated to interactive games – including speed pitch, batting cages, and home run derby.

A health and wellness village where baseball fans can receive healthy tips and screenings also has been set up.

The festival was also to feature a live performance by the band The Nerds.
