YAPHANK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A motorcyclist was struck and killed by a car Sunday, while he was pulled over in the median of Sunrise Highway on Long Island.

Jason Delauro, 32, had pulled his 2005 Honda motorcycle into the highway median just west of Horseblock Road in Yaphank Sudnay afternoon, Suffolk County police said. He was struck by a westbound 2012 BMW 535 driven by Gregory Dean, also 32, according to police.

Delauro, of Levittown, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office, police said. Dean, of Seaford, refused medical attention.

Both the car and the motorcycle were impounded for a safety check, police said. The investigation continued Sunday evening.
