NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Big Blue Travel, the official travel provider of the New York Giants is honoring two-time Super Bowl winner and recent Pro Football Hall of Famer Bill Parcells on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. at Empire Meadowlands Hotel in Secacus, N.J.
“Tuna Roast” will honor Parcells prior to the Giants home opener against the Denver Broncos. John Pizzi will serve as roast master. Former Giants Lawrence Taylor, Harry Carson, Phil Simms, Ottis Anderson, Jim Burt, Sean Landeta, Brad Benson, George Martin and Steve DeOssie will lend a hand roasting “The Big Tuna.”
Additional players appeared are to be announced. VIP packages cost $595 and general reserved prices are set at $250. Parcells, Taylor and Simms will not be signing at the event.
“The Big Tuna” joined WFAN 660 AM/101.9 FM’s Mike Francesa on Tuesday evening to talk about the event and his storied coaching career.
He’s ready to return fire after all his players get their jabs in at the roast.
“They’re all going to get their shots in,” Parcells told Francesa. “I might have the microphone last, and I have a little ammunition myself.”
PARCELLS CHATS WITH MIKE:
Parcells shared his thoughts on Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor’s prestigious career.
“He’s certainly one of the two or three most dynamic, impactful players,” Parcells told Francesa. “Certainly in his era.”
Taylor had a revolutionary impact on the game. Parcells described “L.T.” as “maybe the first of the linebacker-types to provide the pass rush on the long-yardage situations.”
“I feel fortunate to be among the very few,” Parcells said. “That’s a special thing. It was a lot of fun, and it was emotional. I’m just very fortunate.”
