Christie To Launch Commercials For Reelection Campaign

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Campaign commercials for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will begin on Thursday.

Christie's reelection campaign has bought 10 days of airtime for $1.5 million.

A person familiar with the purchase told The Associated Press the ads on local New York and Philadelphia TV stations will be positive. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the person is not authorized to speak about the ads before they air.

Christie's commercials are the first of the general election campaign.

The governor has raised the maximum $4.22 million the state allows for public matching funds.

His opponent, Democratic Sen. Barbara Buono, has raised $650,000. But she has has not yet received a check for public funds.

Buono has produced several web ads.

The New Jersey Education Association also has been running ads that criticize Christie's education policies.
