As Fashion Week Draws To A Close, Expert Shares Hot Trends For Next Spring

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- As Fashion Week celebrated its final night Wednesday, some of the big trends for spring 2014 have come into focus.

Get ready for glammed-up Birkenstocks and sassy crop tops.

CBS 2's Dave Carlin accompanied fashion expert Dawn Del Russo in the tents as she approached total strangers to point out what styles she loved.

"If there's anything we saw the most of on the runways, it was crop tops," Del Russo told one woman. "She's only showing a little bit of skin, and that is the key to a crop top.

"So many runways are showing Birkenstocks," she told another woman. "These I like because they have the crystal detail on them,"

Del Russo said black and white patterns and smaller handbags also will be in style next spring.

"Dressing is a creative art, a creative sport, fun," said designer Betsey Johnson, who was spotted at her show wearing "unisex" underwear as her outerwear.
