David Wilson Rips Upset Giants Fans, Fantasy Owners On Twitter

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Giants safety Antrel Rolle says running back David Wilson has only two options after his nightmarish season opener: "He can either get in the tank, or he can man up."

Rolle didn't recommend, however, that Wilson rip his critics on Twitter.

"Ayy to fantasy participants and pissed Giants fans ur irrelevant to me!!!" Wilson tweeted on Tuesday. "Nobody wants me to succeed more than ME!!! WATCH US WORK!"

He also retweeted a fan's message ("TELL EM"), and later posted a shout-out "to all our supporters and big blue nation lets go get these wins the fans deserve every win we get #wegonegetit."

The 22-year-old was benched Sunday after his second fumble during the Giants' Week 1 loss in Dallas. While Rolle issued a challenge to the second-year rusher on WFAN radio, wide receiver Victor Cruz took a softer approach.

"I just want to talk to him and keep his spirits high, and understand that we're behind him," Cruz said Tuesday on WFAN's "Boomer & Carton" show. "We're going to need him to make plays. He's a dynamic running back, and we're going to need him to make plays in order for us to win ball games."

Wilson will have a chance to put the fumble-itis behind him Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

"We've just gotta keep his emotions high, keep his mentality positive, and we can go from there," Cruz said. "It's definitely a tough time for him and he's gotta get through it."

The Giants brought back veteran running back Brandon Jacobs on Tuesday.
