Teenager Killed In Shooting On Long Island

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating after a teenage boy was killed in a shooting Wednesday night on Long Island.

It happened around 10 p.m. on Dartmouth Street in Hempstead.

The unidentified teen was shot multiple times and rushed to Winthrop Hospital where he died. According to police, a large group of teens were gathered in the street when shots rang out.

Daisy Smith, a friend of the victim, rushed to the scene after hearing what happened.

"I told him I loved him and I'm going to see you real soon," she said. "He said 'I'm dying.' I think he knew it was coming."

No word yet of any arrests. The investigation is ongoing.
