NANUET, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – Construction crews are working to get a major retail space in Rockland County ready for its grand opening in just a few weeks.
WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell got a sneak peek of The Shops At Nanuet, an open air mall set to open Oct. 10 on the site of the former Nanuet Mall.
The shopping center is still very much a construction site, but officials said it will go beyond the typical shopping mall once complete.
“Something, like I said, that kind of replicates the Main Street of old but also kind of has great 21st century touches,” said Ryan Hidalgo, the shopping center’s general manager. “Very high-end tenants like a Coach, like Michael Kors.”
The Sears and the Macy’s remain from the old Nanuet Mall, which was demolished last year. The Nanuet Mall, situated just off of Route 59, was originally built in 1969.
The shopping center will also feature a Fairway and a 12-screen theater.
All but one space in the new shopping center have been leased, Haskell reported.
