NYPD: Well-Dressed Man Sought In Tribeca Attempted Rape

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for a well-dressed man who they said tried to rape a Manhattan woman in her apartment building.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. Friday in Tribeca.

A 39-year-old woman was walking into her building when the suspect pushed her to the floor and then tried to rape her, police said.

The suspect was scared off after another man who walked in on the attack, police said. The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for bruises on her body.

Police said the suspect was seen on surveillance video in the area after the attack.

He's described as being in his late 40s to mid-50s, between 5-feet-8 and 5-feet-10 inches tall and weighing between 170 and 200 pounds, police said.

He was wearing a navy blue blazer, white shirt, dark pants and black dress shoes.
