Police: Men Conducted Drug Deal In Broad Daylight Near L.I. School

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Suffolk County arrested two men Wednesday for allegedly conducting a drug deal in broad daylight, steps from a middle school in West Babylon.

Suffolk County First Precinct Community Oriented Police Enforcement Officer Michael Donlon was out conducting extra patrols near the West Babylon Junior High School, following complaints of drug dealing in the area, police said.

Donlon was near the school on Joan Place in West Babylon, when he saw a hand-to-hand drug deal go down, police said. Ramel McClinton, 19, allegedly sold drugs of an unspecified kind to Frederick Johnston, 46, around 11:35 a.m.

Both men were arrested. McClinton, of West Babylon, was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of school grounds and other drug charges.

Johnston, of Babylon, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
