Funeral Held For Man Killed In Garden City Workplace Shooting

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A funeral was held Monday for the man killed in a workplace shooting on Long Island  -- the same day officials confirmed the body of his suspected killer was found.

Zachariah Yong Jae Shin, 25, was killed Wednesday when Nassau County police said Sang Ho Kim walked into Savenergy, a lighting fixture company in East Garden City, and opened fire.

The chief executive officer of the company, John Choi, was also critically wounded in the shooting, police said.

Mourners gathered Sunday night for Shin's wake at a funeral home in Queens.

Kim had been missing since he disappeared after the shooting. Authorities had been searching for him in Putnam County after his sport utility vehicle was found near Cold Spring, but have found no trace of the 63-year-old.

Kim's body was discovered around 9:30 a.m. Monday near Iona Island and appears to have been in the water for several days, police said.

Nassau County Police Chief Steven Skrynecki said Kim once worked as a vendor for the company and said the motive "appears to be a work-related."

"There was some disgruntlement between him and the company he was attacking,'' Skrynecki said.
