COMMACK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A local man has grown a pumpkin said to be the largest-ever produced on Long Island.
Scott Armstrong’s giant gourd tips the scales at just under 1,500 pounds.
Armstrong, 41, said it took him five months to grow the pumpkin in his backyard in Commack.
The pumpkin beat his 1,279-pound record set last year.
Last year, a Rhode Island man set the world record with a 1-ton pumpkin.
