1 Dead After SUV Slams Into Pedestrians In Yonkers

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One person was killed when an out-of-control SUV slammed into several people at a carnival in Yonkers on Friday night.

Three others were injured, including one in critical condition, after the accident near the Yonkers Fair at Coyne Park, CBS 2's Tracee Carrasco reported.

A 15-year-old girl was killed and her 12-year-old sister was listed in critical condition at Jacobi Hospital, police said.

According to witnesses, a black Jeep backed out of a parking spot at a very high speed and hit several cars. Once in drive the Jeep hit several more parked cars and then plowed into a group of people.

"We saw a black Cherokee backing out of the spot uncontrollably. They hit like two or three cars, then it went into drive and it shot out of the parking lot, and hit two more cars, and then they wind up hitting the two girls," witness Vincent Santini said.
