Electronic Food Stamp Cards Impacted By Xerox Computer System Crash
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- New Jersey was among the seventeen states where food stamp debit cards were not working on Saturday.
The cards themselves are still good, CBS 2 reported. Xerox, the company that issued the cards, experienced a computer system crash.
The company said that the trouble stemmed from a routine test and had nothing to do with the government shutdown.
Food stamp users in Ohio, Michigan, Alabama, California, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia were also affected.
By Saturday night the problem appeared to be resolved in all seventeen states.
