Firefighter Reportedly Charged With Attack On Bartender
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — An FDNY firefighter has been charged with assault, reportedly on claims that he attacked a Bronx bartender with a beer bottle.
Firefighter Craig Frey, 38, was arrested around 1:14 a.m. this past Friday in the 45th Precinct in the Bronx, police said. He was charged with assault.
Police did not provide further details. But a New York Post report said he allegedly attacked James LaMacchia, 25, at Brewski’s Bar & Grill in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx.
Frey allegedly got into an argument with LaMacchia, before he allegedly hit LaMacchia with the beer bottle and used the broken bottle to stab LaMacchia in the face and neck, the newspaper reported.
LaMacchia was an All-City standout o the Fordham Prep high school football team, and is the son of former Uninformed Firefighters Association president Tom LaMacchia, the newspaper reported.
The newspaper said Frey was in his uniform at the time of the alleged incident, and had not been drinking heavily.
