NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — Police on Long Island are trying to figure out who left two headless chickens in a plastic bag outside a church.

A landscaper found the bag in front of a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church in New Hyde Park Thursday morning, police said.

Authorities believe the bag was left at the church between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 8:50 a.m. Thursday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
