ISLANDIA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A Walmart employee lured a 5-year-old boy into a store restroom and sexually abused him Saturday night, police said.

The boy was shopping with his mother when Matthew Bulmer, 22, of Islip Terrace, convinced the child to follow him into the restroom at the Walmart at 1850 Veterans Memorial Highway in Islandia around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, authorities said. After an investigation, police charged Bulmer with first-degree sex abuse and acting in a manner to injure a child.

He was to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Kory Lundberg, a Walmart spokesman, told WCBS 880’s Jim Smith that Bulmer has been suspended while the investigation proceeds.

“We’re clearly concerned about this allegations, and we’re cooperating in all ways that we can with the Suffolk County Police Department,” Lundberg said.

Suffolk County police are asking with information about the call to its Special Victims Section at 631-852-6184.
