Woman Struck, Injured By Police Vehicle On Upper East Side

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A woman was hospitalized after being struck and injured by an NYPD vehicle on the Upper East Side Friday evening.

The accident happened around 6:15 p.m. Friday at East 72nd Street and York Avenue, police said.

The 51-year-old woman was struck by the NYPD Traffic Prius as she crossed York Avenue. She was taken to NewYork Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center with head trauma, police said.

No other injuries were reported.

The police vehicle had the green light at the time, according to witnesses.

Witnesses said the windshield of the police vehicle was smashed by the impact of the accident.
