NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police on Sunday were asking for assistance in finding two men who allegedly robbed a livery cab in the Bronx late last week.

Around 4:45 p.m. this past Thursday, the men got into a livery cab in front of 2325 Prospect Ave. in the Belmont section of the Bronx, and asked to be taken to the intersection of East 219th Street and Bronx Boulevard in the Olinville section, police said.

When the livery cab arrived at the address, one of the men restrained the driver while the other took his cell phone from the dashboard, police said.

The suspects then ran off, police said. The victim was not injured.

The suspect who restrained the driver was described as a black male between the ages of 18 and 25, standing 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was wearing a green jacket and a tan knit cap, police said.

The other suspect was described as a male black, also between 18 and 25 years old and standing 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was wearing a red leather jacket and a red Gucci knit cap, police said.

Police have released surveillance photos of both suspects.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
