2 Pedestrians Hit, Killed In Separate Accidents

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two pedestrians were struck and killed in separate incidents in Brooklyn and Queens Monday night.

Shortly after 7 p.m., a man was struck by a car as he crossed Jamaica Avenue near 180th Street in Jamaica, Queens, police said.

The man, who was in his 40s, was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital, police said.

Police said the second incident happened around 7:30 p.m., when a sport-utility vehicle slammed into a 50-year-old woman as she crossed Pennsylvania Avenue at Glenmore Avenue, in the East New York section of Brooklyn.

The woman was taken to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The drivers remained at the scene in both incidents, police said. No criminal charges were expected.
