Talbot To Start For Rangers In Place Of Lundqvist Against Isles

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Rangers announced on Tuesday afternoon that Cam Talbot will start in net against the Islanders at Nassau Coliseum.

The Blueshirts and Isles are set to face off at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night. Henrik Lundqvist played in Monday night's 2-0 defeat to the Montreal Canadiens at Madison Square Garden.

Talbot, 26, earned his first career win in Detroit on Saturday. Through two games, Talbot is 1-1-0 with a 1.94 goals against average and a .934 save percentage.

Meanwhile, winger Carl Hagelin is expected to make his season debut against the Islanders. Head coach Alain Vigneault thinks that Hagelin adds a different dimension to his lineup.

"He brings a speed dimension obviously," Vigneault said of Hagelin after Monday's defeat. "A guy that can help us create turnovers and probably — most definitely — spend a lot more time in the other team's end. He's been a big part of this team, and if he does play tomorrow I'm sure he will be ready."

Hagelin scored 10 goals and tallied 14 assists in 48 games during the 2012-13 season.
