NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A firefighter was injured Wednesday afternoon, as crews battled a three-alarm blaze that broke out in Newark.

The large three-story home at Broadway and Verona Avenue in the northern section of Newark was vacant when the fire broke out sometime before 5 p.m.

The top floor collapsed down into the second floor as a result of the blaze.

As of 6 p.m., there were still massive pockets of fire in the house, CBS 2's Joe Biermann reported.

One Newark firefighter suffered minor injuries fighting the blaze, Biermann reported.
