Police Find New Jersey Man's Dog After Car Stolen

LINDEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey man has been reunited with his dog after his BMW was stolen from a New Jersey gas station.

The 37-year-old man left his car running while he went inside the convenience store at a Gulf gas station on N. Park Avenue in Linden on Wednesday night, police said.

The man's Yorkshire terrier named "Tuffy" was inside the vehicle, and when the man came out of the store, police said both his car and dog were gone.

Police put out a broadcast for the vehicle and within several minutes a patrol officer found Tuffy a few blocks away on E. St. George Avenue.

Police are still looking for the gray 2011 BMW 535i with license plate number NJ P47DDH.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video from the gas station.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Frank Leporino at 908-474-8535.
