NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — New York’s iconic yellow taxis may be some of the most well-known in the world, but if you’re looking for the best cab drivers, you’ll have to go across the pond.
The best drivers in the world are in London, according to this year’s global taxi survey from Hotels.com. London took home 22 percent of the vote, securing its place as number one for the sixth year in a row.[cbs-audio url=”http://cbsnewyork.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/best-cabbies-2dauria-w41-soc-afarr.mp3″ size=”340″ download=”false” name=”NYC Cabs Rank Second In Annual Global Taxi Survey” artist=”1010 WINS’ Carol D’Auria reports”]
New York didn’t do too badly, though. It came in second place with 10 percent of the vote.
“They’re a little more reckless, which is fine,” one man told 1010 WINS’ Carol D’Auria. “When I’m in a cab, I want to go from point A to point B in a hurry.”
The survey, which was conducted in 30 countries, looked at seven categories including cleanliness, knowledge of the area and quality of driving.
New York City tied with Bangkok in value for money, according to the survey. New York did come in first for cab availability.
Tokyo, Berlin and a three-way tie between Mexico City, Madrid and Amsterdam rounded out the top five.
