Newark's New Mayor To Take Ceremonial Oath Of Office

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- It's a day for ceremony in New Jersey's largest city.

Newark Mayor Luis Quintana will take a ceremonial oath of office on Tuesday.

The former council president was sworn in last week to fill the unexpired term of Cory Booker, who was elected to the U.S. Senate.

The 53-year-old has said he will not seek the seat in Newark's next mayoral election in May.

Quintana is a native of Puerto Rico who moved to Newark with his family at age eight. He had served on the city council since 1994.

He was elected mayor by a unanimous municipal council. His term runs until July 1, 2014.
