Revis: It's Time For 'Bitter Jets Fans' To Get Over It, 'Move On'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Darrelle Revis doesn't want to hear it from Jets fans anymore.

The elite cornerback, who was traded from the Jets to the Buccaneers on April 21 and then signed a six-year, $96 million contract with Tampa Bay, is tired of Gang Green fans going after him on Twitter.

"I get harassed every day on Twitter (by Jets fans), and I barely even tweet," the four-time Pro Bowler told the New York Post. "And you just get tired of it."

Revis' interception of a Ryan Tannehill pass late in the fourth quarter on Monday night secured the Bucs' first victory of the season.

"You've got to have a backbone, because guys are saying, 'F--- you!' and 'I want to kill you!,'" the 28-year-old told the newspaper. "It's crazy, but I've been getting death threats from them since my first holdout (in 2010). It's just bitter Jets fans."

Earlier this month, Revis said on Twitter that he was happy enough making $16 million per year with the then-winless Buccaneers compared to the alternative.

"Back in the good old days when @Revis24 played for a team that mattered. Wonder if 12MM per and Rex as coach has any merit vs Schaino (sic) & 16MM," a Jets fan from Jersey City, N.J., tweeted on November 4.

That prompted Revis to respond: "naw 16 is better."

"I said what I said, and I meant it — to that particular person," Revis said in regard to that tweet. "It don't have to be toward the New York Jets or nothing. They're trying to say I'm money hungry, but I'm not really concerned about that. I used to play in New York, so I'm used to getting booed. I'm a pro about that, and that's nothing I'm concerned about."

The Jets, who are a surprising 5-4 and have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs, received the Bucs' 2013 first-round pick -- which turned into defensive end Sheldon Richardson -- and a 2014 fourth-round conditional pick in exchange for Revis.

"They're still not over the fact that I'm not there no more, and they give me crap all the time on Twitter," Revis told the New York Post. "If they would understand the business of it and understand what happened, then maybe they would know and maybe they would quit trying to point the finger at me. That's where it is."

The former first-round pick has recorded 29 tackles, two interceptions and two forced fumbles in nine games this season.

"As long as the people that I'm close with know me and know what type of person I am and how I want to win a Super Bowl, that's that," Revis told the newspaper. "I don't need to answer to really nobody else. I did answer to him, because I'm getting tired of (Jets fans) always being negative. You don't want to hear that.

"It don't help with the record (the Buccaneers have), but at the same time, just let it go. I'm not there no more, Jets fans. I'm not there. When I left, I left with class. I didn't leave saying, 'Eff the Jets organization' or anything like that. You've got to move on."

As for the Jets' push for the playoffs? The seventh-year player insists that he's not paying attention to it.

"I don't really watch football," he told the newspaper. "I know what the Jets' record is, but only because you've got to follow the league when you're in the profession ... No regrets at all. Definitely no regrets. I'm fine. I'm going to make plays regardless of where I play. It doesn't matter where I play."
