NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – There’s a new place to go for a skate in Brooklyn this winter.
As WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell reported, first the McCarren Park Pool was re-opened for the first time in 30 years and now the city has put an ice rink at the popular Brooklyn park.
The McCarren Rink officially opened to skaters on Friday.
“It’s great. We live in Williamsburg so I’m so excited that something like this is around,” Miwako Dai, who was at the rink with her daughter, told Haskell.
The rink is on what’s called the beach area of the recently renovated pool.
“It makes the park more of a year-round destination. You have the ice rink in the winter, the pool in the summer,” said Ed Janoff with the city parks department.
The rink will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week until Jan. 4, 2014. Click here for more information.
