NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are hunting for a burglar they say has broken into several Long Island City apartments by throwing rocks through their windows.

The suspect has struck five times since Oct. 14, police say. He tosses the rocks from adjoining rooftops to gain entry and then removes property such as jewelry, watches and eyeglass frames, according to authorities.

The latest theft happened Saturday or Sunday morning at 30-30 47th Avenue.

Police have released surveillance images of the suspect. He is described as black, being in his late 40s or early 50s, having a bald head and having a medium build.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the burglaries to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-8477 or to submit a tip online at NYPDCrimeStoppers.com. All communications are kept confidential.
