Rolle On WFAN: ‘If JPP Said There Will Be Blood, Then There Will Be Blood’
NEW YORK (WFAN) — The Giants will look to extend their winning streak to five on Sunday when they host the division-rival Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.
The 4-6 Giants, 1 1/2 games behind the first-place Eagles in the NFC East, can tie the Cowboys with a victory this weekend as they attempt to continue their magical run.
“This is definitely a must-win game,” Giants safety Antrel Rolle told WFAN co-hosts Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts in his weekly spot on Tuesday. “Every game from us at this moment is a must-win game. We have to go out there, and we have to do what we have to do as a team in order for us to get this win.
“With Dallas, we all understand that it’s a division opponent, it’s a division rival. But at the same time, like I said, every game from this moment on is a must-win game.”
Jason Pierre-Paul is certainly pumped up for the second and final meeting of the regular season between the two teams. (The Cowboys beat New York in the season opener, 36-31, at Cowboys Stadium.)
“It’s going to be a fight,” JPP said after the Giants’ 27-13 victory over the Packers on Sunday. “It’s going to be a dogfight. There’s going to be a lot of blood spilled out there.”
Rolle’s response to Pierre-Paul’s comments?
“If JPP said there will be blood, then there will be blood,” the two-time Pro Bowler told Joe & Evan.
Benigno pointed out that the Giants’ defense will face its toughest quarterback since the beginning of the winning streak. In the past four weeks, New York has faced Josh Freeman, Matt Barkley, Terrelle Pryor and Scott Tolzien. Now New York will have to stop Tony Romo.
Rolle and the defense will be up to the challenge.
“Well (Romo) is going up in class as far as the defense, so it is what it is,” the captain told the radio duo. “We’ve faced Tony Romo before, we’ve beaten him before. I think Tony Romo is a great quarterback. I think he’s very athletic. When this guy gets hot, he can be one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in this league. He throws exceptional on the run and he can hit all his targets.
“So we understand what we’re facing, but at the same time, we’re not the same defense that he faced the first time around.”
