NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police on Thursday were searching for an assailant who attacked a 76-year-old woman in the Bronx.

The attack happened around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at Amethyst Street and Morris Park Avenue, in the Van Nest section of the Bronx. Police said the suspect came up to the woman from behind, pushed her to the ground and stole her purse.

The purse contained an undetermined amount of cash and benefit cards, police said.

The suspect then ran off. The victim suffered a laceration to her hip and refused medical aid.

The suspect was described only as a Hispanic male in his 30s.
