NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police on Saturday were seeking the assailant who shot and killed a man in Washington Heights.
Around 10:35 p.m. Friday, officers were dispatched to 535 W. 156th St., between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue, for a call of a man shot.
They found Gregory Tate, 49, lying unconscious in front of the building at the 156th Street address with a gunshot wound to the torso.
Tate was rushed to nearby NewYork Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A neighbor told DNAInfo she was not surprised by the incident, and referred to the stretch of 156th Street where the shooting happened as “the killing block.”
As of Saturday afternoon, there were no arrests in the case and the investigation continued.
