Police: Woman Robbed At Knifepoint In L.I. Medical Building Parking Lot

MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Saturday were searching for a suspect who robbed a woman at knifepoint in a Long Island parking lot.

The robbery happened around 6:25 p.m. in Mineola, according to Nassau County police.

The 42-year-old woman was loading items into her vehicle in the parking lot for the Winthrop University Hospital professional building, at 120 Mineola Blvd., when the suspect walked up, took out a knife and demanded property, police said.

The woman handed over personal items, and the robber ran off toward Willis Avenue, police said.

The victim's purse was later found behind 203 Willis Ave. in Mineola, but an undetermined amount of cash and personal papers were missing, police said.

The suspect was described only as a male Hispanic with a mask over his face.
