Authorities Investigate Violent, Early Morning Attack In New Cassel

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island are investigating an assault that occurred on Sunday, in New Cassel.

Two male victims ages 22 and 21 returned to a Roman Ave residence, shortly after 3 a.m. when they were attacked by three unknown Hispanic males, in their late teens, armed with bats, machetes, and a knife.

Two of the suspects chased the 22-year-old victim through the front yard before striking him in the arms and the back of the head.

A third suspect chased the 21-year-old victim into the back yard and attacked him. That attack resulted in a fractured vertebrae, a stab wound to the victim's back, and lacerations to his hand and forearm.

The suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The 21-year-old victim was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries. The 22-year-old victim refused medical attention.

Detectives have asked that anyone with information regarding this incident contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
