Fairleigh Dickinson Upsets Seton Hall 58-54

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Point guard Sidney Sanders scored 23 points and handed out nine assists in leading Fairleigh Dickinson to a 58-54 upset victory over Seton Hall on Sunday afternoon at the Prudential Center.

Sanders sank two free throws with 20.2 seconds showing for a 57-54 lead and added one foul shot with five seconds left to seal it. Scooter Gillette, who made a big block down the stretch, ended with 15 points for FDU (3-6), which has defeated in-state New Jersey colleges, Rutgers and Seton Hall in consecutive games.

It was just the fourth victory for FDU against Seton Hall in 21 meetings, the last coming in 2006.

Fuquan Edwin had 16 points and Brian Oliver netted 12 for Seton Hall (4-3).

Gillette's block of Brandon Mobley's shot in the paint preserved a 55-54 lead and led to the two foul shots by Sanders.
