NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A woman was found dead Monday evening in a fire that broke out in a basement apartment in southern Brooklyn.
An FDNY chief told 1010 WINS the fire broke out in a rear basement apartment of a two-story brick house at 909 57th St., in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn.
One unidentified woman of an unknown age was found dead at the scene, the chief said.
The woman lives with a male companion who has not been notified the chief said.
Fire marshals were headed to the scene of the blaze to investigate the cause Monday night.
