ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) – Investigators are trying to find out how a Maywood woman died after her body was discovered on a street in Rochelle Park.
As CBS 2’s Tamara Leitner reported Wednesday, 53-year-old Christine Bezak was discovered at 8:30 a.m. on Passaic Street, just off Route 17.
“Of all the rotten people around it has to happen to a really good family. It doesn’t make sense,” friend Mike Szymanski said.
Investigators said Bezak struggled with alcohol problems and that empty bottles of alcohol were found near her body. They said they also believe she was with one or possibly two other people.
“It’s suspicious based on where the body is located. There is an indication that alcohol may have been involved either by herself or others,” Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said.
Investigators said they are hoping an autopsy will give them some insight into how Bezak died, Leitner reported.
