NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) — ‘Tis the season to go shopping.
On Saturday, some 500 volunteers led by the Jr. Board Of Catholic Charities went Christmas shopping for 600 families in need, 1010 WINS’ Carol D’Auria reported.
Timothy Cardinal Dolan told D’Auria that the groups mission was to buy gifts of need for 2,500 people.
“We’re not getting toys or anything. We’re getting warm socks and gloves, and sweaters, and pajamas, and slippers and coats,” he said.
Dolan joined shoppers at the Kmart on Astor Place. He said that doing something good for somebody else makes you feel pretty good and that, that is what Christmas is all about; the giving of yourself in service to someone else.
