NEW YORK (WLNY) — NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon is revving up for another season behind the wheel and making a run at another championship.
He’s also spreading the word about a major health concern, especially for parents with young children.
Gordon is involved with a campaign for whooping cough awareness.
“A lot of people don’t realize that whooping cough or pertussis is on the rise,” Gordon said. “Especially during the holidays, when you’re going to be indoors and in close quarters, it is extremely important for you to get a Tdap booster vaccination if you’re going to be around a young infant.”
“As an adult we can get pertussis, which is highly contagious to infants, and we can pass it on to them,” Gordon said. “For young infants it can be dangerous and even fatal.”
